Gary Clark Jr.
By now you probably heard of Gary Clark Jr. but if you haven’t yet, here’s a little bio to get acquainted with this extraordinary musician:

Texas guitarist Gary Clark Jr. has been compared to guitar icons likeJimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and his playing is a powerful and inspired mix of blues roots with contemporary soul and hip-hop, and when he’s rolling at his best, he sounds like nothing so much as a natural hybrid of both the past and the future of the blues. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Clark first picked up a guitar at the age of 12 and spent his teens playing whatever gig he could get in the Austin area, eventually meeting Clifford Antone, promoter and owner of Antone’s, the city’s premier blues club, who began featuring Clark at his venue. An amazing live performer, Clark soon became one of the brightest players on Austin’s blues and rock scene. He released an independent album, 2005’s Tribute, followed by a pair of self-produced albums in 2008 for Hotwire Unlimited, 110 and Worry No More. An EP, Gary Clark Jr., also appeared from Hotwire in 2010. But Clark was far from just a one-trick pony guitar gunslinger. He could also sing, write, and arrange. He wrote the original score for the film Full Count and also appeared as an actor in John Sayles‘ 2007 film Honeydripper. In 2010, Clark was selected by Eric Clapton to perform at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, and a DVD of the show featuringClark led to a recording deal with Warner Bros. Clark was soon in the studio working on his major-label debut. An EP called Bright Lights was released in 2011 in advance of the new album, Blak and Blu, which appeared in the fall of 2012. – by Steve Legget – Rovi

Jesse Terry was the one who told me about Gary. He said so many great things about him that I just had to check him out. This was about a month ago. I went home that night and downloaded his EP on iTunes. With the first listen I was hooked.Gary’s first full length studio album entitled Blak and Blu was released on October 16, 2012 and it’s on iTunes for only $9.99 (Deluxe Version), a total STEAL if you consider how good the album is and how much joy you’ll get from it.I looked up his tour dates online and found out he’s playing 3 shows in New York City, at the Bowery Ballroom– all sold out! I snagged a ticket for the Sunday show and I am getting really excited to see him. I’m fascinated by the passion he brings to his songs and it doesn’t hurt that his guitar solos are so sick it gives me a little tachycardia. The only other musician capable of accelerating my heartbeat is Mr. Mayer himself so I think this is a very good indication that Gary is here to stay, but if my words are not enough to convince you I’ll let the music be proof of this undeniable talent.Watch this video. Buy his album, go see him live if you can.Spread the word.Great music is meant to be shared.
Love always,
Erika

11 Years Later…

To the man who called his wife for the last time
To the ones who stayed behind to rescue an injured co-worker from a burning building
To the men and women who took over the high-jacked Flight 93, fighting for their lives until the very end
To the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, little boys and little girls who now have to go trough life without their dearest ones
To all the firefighters, medics and citizens who risked their own lives to rescue and treat those injured on the most tragic day in American history
To the service men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our country…

You restore my faith in humanity every passing day

Never Forget. Never Give up.

FIGHT ON!

Love,

Team JMMA
